Professor of Medical Spanish for Health Professionals”.

Medical doctor graduated in Venezuela with 35 years of experience. I had the opportunity to teach pro bono at a university, giving classes in the Master of Occupational Health. Despite not receiving financial compensation for my work, I chose to participate in this project because I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience in the area of occupational health. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to teach Spanish to private students, which allowed me to share my passion for this language, despite not having a specific academic degree in the area. Although my main background is in Medicine, I have always been fascinated by Spanish, which led me to teach personalized Spanish classes in my country, and during this time, I developed pedagogical skills, adapting my classes to the needs and learning pace of each student. More recently, in order to formalize and enrich my teaching skills, I obtained the ELE (Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language) certificate, which has provided me with specific pedagogical tools to teach Spanish effectively. On the other hand, my ability to combine my knowledge of Medicine with my mastery of Spanish as a native language becomes relevant in the teaching of medical Spanish, which would help professionals in the sector to improve their communication with Spanish-speaking patients in medical contexts, always with a practical and specific approach.

Bachelor's Degree in Education. Spanish Tutor from Spain

I am native speaker from Spain, and moved to the US twenty years ago to work as a public school teacher. I believe my EDUCATION, my EXPERIENCE, my VALUES and ACHIEVEMENTS are valuable assets to my teaching career. This is a little bit of my background: I was born and raised Spain and after completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Vigo, I started working as a teacher in a school and as a private homework tutor for several years. Since I always had the dream of experiencing teaching in a different country, in 2003 I applied and was selected by the US Department of Education to participate in an Exchange Visitor Teacher Program for the state of FL. My Bachelor's Degree in Education has been validated in the United States, which offered me the opportunity to continue working in the educational field ever since as a tutor, afterschool group leader, and ESOL multilingual assistant. Living and teaching in the United States, also opened the doors for me to assist a wide array of students and families from multiple different backgrounds. I deeply understand what is involved in the process of learning a second language. Over the years, I have learnt to see teaching from an empathetic viewpoint, I’ve learnt adaptability, putting myself in my students' shoes, focusing not only in teaching content, but also promoting students’ self confidence and sense of accomplishment. My VALUES of teaching self-acceptance, sense of connection, trying my best in sharing a sense of curiosity, have led to my students’ academic and personal achievements, many of them graduating with outstanding GPAs, which makes me feel very proud. I will be happy to be of assistance and offer my best tutoring strategies to all my Lessonpal students!
